My husband, Christopher, and I came to live at Hill Brow nearly 30 years ago after having lived and worked in the Far East, mostly in Hong Kong, for many years.
I originally trained as an Occupational Therapist and it was in this role that I went to work in Hong Kong, fulfilling a childhood dream. Marriage, 3 children and various career changes including training as a counsellor led me to help in the setting up of the Cathedral Counselling Service and working with Marriage Guidance. I was also involved in setting up and working with other charitable organisations including the CAB and a residential home for the elderly.
On leaving Hong Kong we lived in London for a year before deciding to put our roots down in this beautiful area. A decision we have never regretted! When we came here, Petersfield Counselling Service was just starting and I became one of the counsellors and its first director for about 10 years.
I was co opted on to Rogate Parish Council about 12 years ago and have served on all the committees and was Chairman of the Planning Committee for several years at the same time being Vice-Chairman of the Council. I was elected Chairman in May 2013. Recently I have been involved with RATA and the Neighbourhood Plan. It is my hope that these 2 projects will produce exciting and deliverable plans, that together, will make the whole parish even more attractive, safe and sustainable and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
My Christian faith is important to me and I have been involved with Rogate and Trotton churches as well as continuing my interest in the church in China and Hong Kong.
